Make your own blueprint

When I got interested in startups, I felt the need to find a blueprint to copy, a person who did something that impacted me; this could be Naval Ravikant(AngelList founder and investor), Luis von Ahn (Duolingo co-founder), and the list goes on... So I read the books, listened to the podcasts, watched the YouTube videos, and yes, this was helpful for a bit and very inspirational, but the more I kept consuming, the more I realized I'm trying to copy a blueprint and no matter how hard you try, you cannot copy a blueprint.

Each is unique with its own challenges and story. Startups go on to do amazing things because ofthe passion, timing, pivoting, people, and lots of other factors. All these things you can figure out as you go, no need to have it all planned out.

Most of these people who did huge things just started with building something they thought was cool. For example, I got to be a part of an AMA with Michael Dell a few months ago hosted by Hack Clubbers who reached out to him. I asked him about his early success selling newspapers in high school and if that contributed to starting Dell Computers.

Newspapers? How does this have anything to do with computers? Well, at one point selling them was fun and in fact, he sold a ton of them because he realized married couples moving into the neighborhood will have a higher chance of buying them but besides the extra cash most importantly he learned early on that it’s possible to make money from doing things you find fun. If you want to create an impact, stop listening. Start doing shit and don’t look back.

April 4th, 2024 - I find the world of mixed reality incredibly fun but also scary due to the unknown. You don't see people with VR/AR gear outside, but it exists? People just don’t have a reason to...Let's change that! Thanks for reading this far - talk soon.
